Once you enrol your child for day care at one of our centres, you appear on our waiting list in order of registration date. We plan according to the waiting list. Once a place becomes available at a location, we first look at all at the possibilities for advancement.
Advancement refers to moving up from one age group (for example, 0 to 24 months) to the next age group (for example, 24 to 48 months). As a rule, parents receive a 4-year contract in which they are entitled to the days offered during the 4 years. After the ‘advancement places' have been filled, the empty places are filled based on the waiting list. The waiting list is processed according to the following five criteria:
We place in order of the criteria and according to the registration date within that criterion. We offer a place no more than two months prior to your indicated starting date for day care, and no more than four months prior to your indicated starting date for out-of-school care.
On 1 January, a place becomes available on Mondays and Wednesdays for the pre-schooler group at location X. First, we check whether there are children from the toddler group who can advance to the pre-schooler group. If this is the case, this is done first. This means that a place has now become available on Mondays and Wednesdays for the toddler group. We then check whether there is a baby who can advance to the toddler group. If this is also the case, there is now a baby place to fill for Mondays and Wednesdays starting 1 January.
The waiting list is printed based on the criteria and the registration date within that criterion. Number 1 from the waiting list, however, would like Mondays and Wednesdays as of 1 March. If available, we offer places at day care (0-4 years) two months in advance. This means, therefore, that number 1 is offered Mondays and Wednesdays with 1 January as the starting date. If parent 1 does not want this place because it is too early, we look at number 2. Number 2 would like a place as of 1 January, but on Mondays and Thursdays. We offer number 2 Mondays and Wednesdays starting 1 January since number 2 is now next in line. If number 2 only accepts Mondays, we offer number 3 Wednesdays, etc.
The waiting periods for out-of-school care are often longer than for the day care centre. This is because there is less advancement for the children at the out-of-school care. Children at out-of-school care leave after an average of eight years. Unfortunately, this means that sometimes we cannot offer brothers and sisters a place at the out-of-school care on the desired starting date. However, like children who advance from the day care centre to out-of-school care, they have priority over other children (criterion 2). Please note! If your child is placed at the day care centre, you should also register your child for out-of-school care. There is no minimum age requirement for registering your child for out-of-school care.
