Placement procedure

All child care applications are received at skon's central planning department in Vianen. Our Planning department employees process your application immediately. Your child is entered on our waiting list as soon as you have registered. You will receive e-mail confirmation within 5 working days.

Sometimes it is difficult to indicate the length of the waiting list for a specific location; however, we can usually give you an indication of the waiting period. The waiting period depends on several waiting list criteria. The more flexible you are in the days you need child care, the greater the chance that you will be offered a place sooner. Once there is a place for your child at the day care centre of your choice, you will receive an offer from us (by e-mail). You can then indicate whether you would like to make use of this offer. If you accept our offer, we will send a contract in duplicate to your home address. Placement is final as soon as you have signed and returned a copy of the contract.

Earlier placement offer

On occasion, we offer you a place earlier than your indicated starting date. This is because a place has become available and you are the next on the list at that time. If you decide not to make use of this place, it goes to the next child on the waiting list. We offer a place no more than two months prior to your indicated starting date for day care, and no more than four months prior to your indicated starting date for out-of-school care. Of course you can simply make use of the day care as of the starting date of the contract. If you do not make use of the place that has been offered, you stay on the waiting list with your original registration date.

Placement

Placement is final as soon as we have received a signed copy of the contract from you. The Planning department employee will confirm this to you and the manager of the day care centre. Several weeks prior to the starting date of the day care, the manager of your day care centre shall contact you for an intake interview. All relevant topics will be discussed during this interview prior to your child's start at the day care centre.

Termination of placement

The day care will be automatically terminated at the first opportunity after your child's 4th birthday, but always as of the 15th or last day of the month. For out-of-school care, the contract shall be terminated on 31 July of the school year in which your child turns 12.
If you would like to give earlier notice for your child's entire place or earlier notice for one day or a number of days, you should take the two-month notice period into account. Termination should be in writing and sent by e-mail to: planning@skon.nl. See also skon's terms of payment.

Sometimes we can continue your contract for a short period after your child has turned four if he/she cannot start school yet. Please contact the Planning department on time if you would like to make use of this option.
