All blauwe dieren day care centres and childminding agencies have a local parents' committee. They promote the interests of children and parents of the day care centre, improve communication between the parents and staff of the day care centre and advise on the upbringing, play and developmental activities and safety and health within the day care centre. The qualifications, composition, appointment and election of the local parents' committees are documented in the Rules and Regulations on Parents' Committees at skon.
BOinK is the nationwide Interest Group for Parents in Child Care. It provides independent information to parents and supports parents' committees. BOinK represents parents in policy and consultative bodies at the national level and has regular consultation with the trade associations. Skon pays the BOinK membership of the local parents' committees, thereby contributing to nationwide parent representation.
